White Rhinos status 2024

❖ The white rhino is also known as the Square-lipped rhino due to the shape of its mouth compared with its African cousin, the black rhino. ❖ There are two subspecies of white rhino: o Southern white rhinos: Ceratotherium simum simum o Northern white rhinos: Ceratotherium simum cottoni ❖ The Southern white rhino is one of the more prevalent species, with a population of approximately 17,000 individuals.  ❖ The Northern white rhino is Critically Endangered with only two individuals left, living at Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya.

'ஏக் பெட் மா கே நாம்' செயலி

மத்திய அரசானது, 'ஏக் பெட் மா கே நாம்' செயலியை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. தாய்மார்களுக்கும் அவர்களின் குழந்தைகளுக்கும் இடையேயான ஒரு பிணைப்பைக் கொண்டாடும் அதே வேளையில் சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பை மேம்படுத்துவதை இந்த செயலி நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது. ஒரு தனித்துவமான தளமான இதில் பயனர்கள் தங்கள் தாய்மார்களின் நினைவாக ஒரு மரத்தை நட்டு அர்ப்பணிக்க முடியும். இவ்வாறு அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட மரம் நடப்பட்ட இடம், அட்சரேகை, தீர்க்கரேகை மற்றும் நேரம் ஆகியவற்றினைத் தானாகவே பதிவு செய்து கொள்ளும்.

‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ App

❖ The Union government has launched ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ app. ❖ This app aims to promote environmental conservation while celebrating the bond between mothers and their children. ❖ It is a unique platform where users can plant and dedicate a tree in honour of their mothers. ❖ The app automatically records the location, latitude, longitude, and timestamp of the dedicated tree.

IISc நிறுவனத்தின் சல்பைடு அயனியேற்றம்

இந்திய அறிவியல் கல்வி நிறுவனத்தின் (IISc) ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் தண்ணீரில் உள்ள கன உலோக மாசுபாட்டை நிவர்த்தி செய்வதற்காக நுண் பொருள் அடிப்படையிலான தீர்வை உருவாக்கியுள்ளனர். குரோமியம் கலந்த நிலத்தடி நீரைச் சுத்தம் செய்ய உதவும் ஒரு புதுமையான நுண் பொருளை இக்குழு உருவாக்கியுள்ளது.  இது நிலைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட நுண்ணிய அளவிலான சுழிய பிணைப்பு கொண்ட இரும்பு 'சல்பைடு அயனியேற்றப்பட்ட' கார்பாக்சிமெத்தில் செல்லுலோஸ் (S-CMC-nZVI) எனப் படுகிறது.  நீரிலிருந்து நச்சுத் தன்மை கொண்ட ஒரு உலோக வடிவமான அறுபிணைப்பு கொண்ட குரோமியத்தினை அகற்றுவதில் இது குறிப்பிடத்தக்க செயல்திறனை வழங்கியுள்ளது.

IISc’s Sulphidated

❖ Researchers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have developed a nano material-based solution to address heavy metal contamination in water. ❖ The team has developed an innovative nanomaterial that could help clean up chromium-contaminated groundwater. ❖ The material is called ‘sulphidated' carboxymethyl cellulose-stabilised nanoscale zero-valent iron (S-CMC-nZVI). ❖ It has shown remarkable efficiency in removing hexavalent chromium, a toxic form of the metal, from water.

அமுர் ஃபால்கன் - தமெங்லாங் மாவட்டம் (மணிப்பூர்)

அமுர் ஃபால்கன் (பால்கோ அமுரென்சிஸ்) பறவைகளை வரவேற்க என்று தமெங்லாங் மாவட்டம் தயாராகி வருகிறது. அங்கு 'கஹுவாய்புய்னா' என்று பெருமளவில் அழைக்கப்படும் இந்தப் பறவையை வேட்டையாடவும், பிடிக்கவும், கொல்லவும், விற்கவும் மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் தடை விதித்து உள்ளது. இந்த வலசை போகும் பறவைகள் வடக்கு சீனா, கிழக்கு மங்கோலியா மற்றும் தொலைதூர கிழக்கு ரஷ்யாவில் உள்ள தங்கள் இனப்பெருக்கப் பகுதிகளிலிருந்து தமெங்லாங்கின் சில பகுதிகள் மற்றும் எல்லைப் பகுதிகளுக்கு வருகின்றன. மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் ஆனது ஆண்டுதோறும் 'அமுர் பால்கன்' திருவிழாவை நடத்துகிறது.

Amur Falcons - Tamenglong district (Manipur)

❖ Tamenglong district gears up to welcome Amur falcon (Falco Amurensis). ❖ The district administration has imposed a ban on hunting, catching, killing and selling of the bird, locally known as ‘Kahuaipuina’, with immediate effect. ❖ The migratory birds arrive in parts of Tamenglong and bordering areas from their breeding grounds in Northern China, Eastern Mongolia and far East Russia. ❖ The district administration also organises ‘Amur Falcon’ festival annually.

 மத்திய அமைச்சரவையானது, "பிரதான் மந்திரி ஜன்ஜாதிய உன்னத் கிராம் அபியான்" திட்டத்திற்கு ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது. இந்த திட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பு மூலம் பழங்குடியின சமூகங்களின் சமூக-பொருளாதார நிலைமைகளை மேம்படுத்துவதை இது நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது.  இது "காடுகளை நன்குப் பராமரிப்பதற்கும் வளங்காப்பதற்கும் வழி வகுப்பதற்காக" அனைத்து வன உரிமைகள் சட்டத்தின் (FRA) கீழும் பட்டா வைத்திருப்பவர்களுக்கும் நிலையான வேளாண் நடைமுறைகளை கொண்டு வருகிறது. 2024 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் மாத நிலவரப் படி, பட்டியலிடப்பட்டப் பழங்குடியினர் (ST) மற்றும் பிற ஆதிவாசிக் குழுக்களைச் சேர்ந்த மக்கள் மற்றும் சமூகங்களுக்கு 24 லட்சத்திற்கும் அதிகமான FRA பட்டாக்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.  இது நாடு முழுவதும் 1.9 கோடி ஏக்கர் வன நிலத்தை உள்ளடக்கியது. இருப்பினும், FRA சட்டத்தின் கீழ் தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட 50.5 லட்சம் கோரிக்கைகளில் 34.83% நிராகரிக்கப்பட்டது மற்றும் 15.9% நிலுவையில் உள்ளது. * PMJUGA திட்டத்தின் கீழ் இலக்காகக் கொண்ட 63,000 பழங்குடியினர் பெரும்பான்மை யாக வாழும் கிராமங்கள் இந்தியா முழுவதும் 549 மாவட்டங்களில் 2,740 தொகுதிகளில் அமைந்துள்ளன.

PM-JUGA Scheme

❖ The Union Cabinet has approved the “Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan”. ❖ It aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities through scheme convergence. ❖ It will bring sustainable agricultural practices to all Forest Rights Act (FRA) patta holders “to enable them for maintenance and conservation of forest”. ❖ As of June 2024, more than 24 lakh FRA titles have been granted to people and communities from Scheduled Tribes (ST) and other traditional forest-dwelling groups. ❖ It covers over 1.9 crore acres of forest land across the country. ❖ However, of the 50.5 lakh claims filed under the FRA, 34.83% have been rejected and 15.9% remain pending. ❖ The 63,000 tribal-majority villages targeted under the PMJUGA are situated in 2,740 blocks across 549 districts across India.
