மர்மமான பழுப்பு நிறக் குறு விண்மீன்கள்

1995 ஆம் ஆண்டில், பூமியிலிருந்து சுமார் 19 ஒளி ஆண்டுகள் தொலைவில் அமைந்து உள்ள கிலியீஸ் 229 எனப்படும் ஒரு செந்நிறக் குள்ள நட்சத்திரத்தினை (குறு விண்மீன்) சுற்றி வரும் பழுப்பு நிறக் குள்ளக் கோளினை ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் கண்டறிந்தனர்.  கிலியீஸ் 2298 எனப்படுகின்ற இந்தப் பழுப்பு நிறக் குள்ள நட்சத்திரமானது அதிக நிறை மிக்கதாக இருந்தாலும் மங்கலாக தென்பட்டது.  அதன் நிறையானது சுமார் 70 வியாழன் கோளின் நிறைக்குச் சமமாகும் என்பதோடு தொலைநோக்கி மூலம் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டதை விட அது பிரகாசமாக இருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். கிலியீஸ் 229B ஆனது ஒரு இரட்டை விண்மீனாக இருக்கலாம் என அறிவியலாளர்கள் சந்தேகிக்கித்தனர். மிகச் சமீபத்திய ஆராய்ச்சி முடிவுகள் கிலியீஸ் 2298 ஆனது வியாழனின் நிறையில் 38 மற்றும் 34 மடங்கு நிறை கொண்ட இரண்டு பழுப்பு நிறக் குள்ள நட்சத்திரங்களைக் கொண்டுள்ளது (கிலியீஸ் 229 Ba மற்றும் கிலியீஸ் 229 Bb).  அவை 12 நாட்கள் மற்றும் பூமிக்கும் சந்திரனுக்கும் இடையே உள்ள தூரத்தை விட 16 மடங்கு இடைவெளியுடன் ஒன்றையொன்று சுற்றி வருகின்றன. பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட இப்பிரகாச அளவுகள் ஆனது, இந்த நிறை அளவு வரம்பில் உள்ள இரண்டு சிறிய பழுப்பு நிறக் குள்ளக் கோள்களுக்கான எதிர்பார்க்கப்படும் பிரகாச அளவுகளுடன் பொருந்துகின்றன.

Mysterious Brown Dwarfs

❖ In 1995, researchers observed a brown dwarf orbiting Gliese 229 – a red dwarf star located about 19 light-years from Earth. ❖ The brown dwarf names Gliese 229B was too dim for its mass. ❖ Its mass to be about 70 Jupiter masses, it should have been brighter than what telescopes had observed. ❖ Scientists suspected Gliese 229 B might be twins. ❖ The recent research results showed that Gliese 229 B consists of two brown dwarfs (Gliese 229 Ba and Gliese 229 Bb) about 38 and 34 times the mass of Jupiter. ❖ They orbit each other with a period of 12 days and a separation of 16 times the distance between Earth and the Moon. ❖ The observed brightness levels also match what is expected for two small brown dwarfs in this mass range.

மேற்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலைகளில் அச்சுறுத்தல் நிலையில் உள்ள விலங்கினங்களின் கிராம அளவிலான பரவல் வரைபடம்' என்ற ஆய்விற்காக சுமார் 512 வகையான விலங்கினங்களின் புவியிடத் தகவல் முறைமை அடிப்படையிலான தரவுத்தளத்தினை உயிரியலாளர்கள் உருவாக்கியுள்ளனர். சுமார் 98 இனங்களுடன், தமிழ்நாட்டின் வால்பாறை பகுதியானது மேற்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலையில் உள்ள அச்சுறுத்தல் நிலையில் உள்ள உயிரினங்களின் செழுமையின் அடிப்படையில் தரநிலைப் படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ள 7,630 கிராமங்களின் பட்டியலில் முதல் இடத்தில் உள்ளது. இந்தப் பட்டியலில் 133 வகையான மீன்கள், 81 வகையான பறவைகள், 91 வகையான ஊர்வன, 79 வகையான நீர் நில வாழ்விகள், 47 வகையான பூச்சிகள், 37 வகையான பாலூட்டிகள் மற்றும் பல இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன. * 512 இனங்களில், 27 இனங்கள் மிக அருகி வரும் நிலையில் உள்ளன, 131 அருகி வரும் நிலையில் உள்ளன என்பதோடு 117 எளிதில் பாதிக்கப்படக்கூடிய நிலையிலும், மற்றும் 88 அச்சுறுத்தல் நிலையை அண்மித்த இனமாகவும், மற்றும் மீதமுள்ள இனங்கள் தீ வாய்ப்புக் கவலை குறைந்த இனமாகவும், தரவுக் குறைபாடு கொண்ட இனமாகவும் அல்லது மதிப்பீடு செய்யப்படாத இனமாகவும் உள்ளன. * கோவை மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள மலை வாழிடமான வால்பாறை 98 இனங்களுடன் முதல் இடத்தில் உள்ளது. அதைத் தொடர்ந்து கேரளாவில் உள்ள கண்ணன் தேவன் மலைகள் (83), மும்பை (69), குட்டம்புழா (64), பரியாரம் (61), மற்றும் கேரளாவில் உள்ள குமிளி (57) ஆகியவை இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன மாநில வாரியாக, சுமார் 354 வகையான அருகி வரும் விலங்கினங்களுடன் கேரளா முதலிடத்திலும், அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து தமிழ்நாடு (274), கர்நாடகா (237), மகாராஷ்டிரா (171), கோவா (104), மற்றும் குஜராத் (37) ஆகியவையும் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.

Richness of threatened species 2024

❖ Biologists created a GIS-based database of 512 species of fauna for the study — ‘Village Level Distribution Mapping of Threatened Fauna of the Western Ghats’. ❖ With 98 species, Tamil Nadu’s Valparai is at the top of the list of 7,630 villages in the Western Ghats in terms richness of threatened species. ❖ The list included 133 species of fishes, 81 species of birds, 91 species of reptiles, 79 species of amphibians, 47 species of insects, 37 species of mammals and etc. ❖ Out of the 512 species, 27 were Critically Endangered, 131 Endangered, 117 Vulnerable, and 88 Near Threatened species, and the rest of the species were of Least Concern, Data Deficient, or Not Evaluated. ❖ Valparai, a hill station in Coimbatore district, topped the list with 98 species. ❖ It is followed by Kannan Devan Hills in Kerala (83), Greater Bombay (69), Kuttampuzha (64), Pariyaram (61), and Kumily (57) in Kerala. ❖ State-wise, Kerala topped the list with 354 species of threatened fauna, followed by Tamil Nadu (274), Karnataka (237), Maharashtra (171), Goa (104), and Gujarat (37).

நீண்ட அலகு கொண்ட கழுகுகளின் கூடுகள் 2024

Long-billed vulture’s nesting 2024

❖ The population of the critically endangered long-billed vulture (Gyps indicus) has seen a steady increase between 2015 and 2021. ❖ The species are exhibiting a 74% breeding success rate in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR). ❖ Out of 31 nesting pairs of vultures recorded between the same period, there were 23 successful fledglings. ❖ The long-billed vulture is also known as the Indian vulture. ❖ It has witnessed an increase from 13 recorded individuals in 2016 to almost 28 reported individuals in 2021. ❖ This is an increase of almost 115% in the population in a span of five years.

SCO Summit 2024 - Pakistan

❖ Islamabad hosted the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2024. ❖ The summit aims to address critical issues such as regional security, economic cooperation, and combating terrorism. ❖ India’s External Affairs Minister, alongside Prime Ministers from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran’s First VicePresident participated in the event. ❖ This is the first high-level visit by an Indian official to Pakistan in nearly nine years. ❖ SCO is a permanent intergovernmental international body founded on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai, China. ❖ The organisation expanded to nine member countries with the inclusion of India and Pakistan in 2017.
