Food and Nutrition board

❖ A board responsible for providing technical and logistical support for functioning of community nutrition programmes has been "officially dissolved" as part of a plan for rationalisation of government bodies. ❖ The Food and Nutrition Board has been shut down by the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry. ❖ It was a technical wing of the ministry headquartered at the Centre in Delhi. ❖ The board had a wide network of offices, including four regional offices and as many quality control laboratories in Faridabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. ❖ The FNB was originally established under the agriculture ministry but later transferred to the WCD ministry in 1993.

அரசிற்கு இதுவரை இல்லாத அளவிற்கான அதிகபட்ச ஈவுத் தொகை

மார்ச் 31 ஆம் தேதியுடன் முடிவடைந்த நிதியாண்டில் இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கியானது, 2.1 லட்சம் கோடி ரூபாய் மதிப்பிலான ஈவுத் தொகையை அரசுக்கு வழங்க உள்ளது.  இது நிதிநிலை அறிக்கையில் குறிக்கப்பட்ட மதிப்பினை விட இரண்டு மடங்கு அதிகம் ஆகும்.  2024-25 ஆம் நிதியாண்டில் இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கியிடமிருந்து 1.02 லட்சம் கோடி ஈவுத் தொகையாக பெறுவதற்கு வரவு செலவுத் திட்டத்தில் அரசாங்கம் திட்டமிட்டிருந்தது. 2022-23 ஆம் நிதியாண்டில் மத்திய அரசுக்கு இந்திய ரிசர்வ் வங்கி வழங்கிய ஈவுத் தொகை அல்லது உபரி பரிமாற்றம் 87,416 கோடி ரூபாயாகும். முந்தைய அதிகபட்சப் பங்கீடானது 2018-19 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 1.76 லட்சம் கோடி ரூபாயாக இருந்தது.

Oxford Economics global cities index 2024

❖ The Oxford Index has ranked New York at the top of the list, followed by London, San Jose, Tokyo and Japan. ❖ The first 50 places of the index were dominated by cities in the US and Europe. ❖ Delhi is ranked the best among Indian cities in the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index. ❖ The national capital, however, ranks 350th on the global list. ❖ It also features several other Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Mumbai and Chennai. ❖ However, no Indian city could make the Top 300. ❖ In India, Bengaluru is ranked 411, Mumbai 427, Chennai 472, Kochi 521, Kolkata 528, Pune 534, Thrissur 550, Hyderabad 564 and Kozhikode 580.  ❖ Tiruchirappalli (634), Coimbatore (669), Madurai (691), Vellore (729) and Salem (767) are featured from Tamil Nadu.

Highest-Ever Dividend for Government

❖ The Reserve Bank of India will pay a record ₹ 2.1 lakh crore dividend to the government for the fiscal ended March 31. ❖ This is more than double of what was budgeted expectation. ❖ The government had budgeted a receipt of ₹ 1.02 lakh crore as dividends from the RBI for the fiscal year 2024-25. ❖ The dividend or surplus transfer by the RBI to the Centre was ₹ 87,416 crore for the fiscal 2022-23. ❖ The previous high was ₹ 1.76 lakh crore in 2018-19.

தமிழ்நாடு மாநிலத்தில், இந்த ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் மற்றும் மே மாதங்களில் மேற்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலைத் தொடர்களில் இருந்து சமவெளி மற்றும் கிழக்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலைகளுக்கு வண்ணத்துப் பூச்சிகள் அதிக அளவில் இடம் பெயர்ந்துள்ளன. அதைத் தொடர்ந்து கோடை மாதத்தில் மாநிலம் முழுவதும் பெய்த பருவமழைக்கு முந்தைய மழைப் பொழிவு ஏற்பட்டது. 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் இயற்கை மற்றும் வண்ணத்துப்பூச்சி சங்கத்தின் கண்காணிப்புகளின் படி, 2016 ஆம் ஆண்டில் தமிழ்நாடு மாநிலத்தில் வறட்சி போன்ற சூழ்நிலைகள் ஏற்பட்ட போது வண்ணத்துப்பூச்சிகள் இடம்பெயர்வு பதிவாகவில்லை. 2017 மற்றும் 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டுகளில் அவற்றின் இடம்பெயர்வு மேம்பட்டிருந்தாலும், 2019 ஆம் ஆண்டில் இது குறைந்துள்ளது. தென்மேற்குப் பருவமழைக்கு முன்னதாக பதிவான இந்த ஆண்டு இடம்பெயர்வானது கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளில் இருந்ததை விட ஆரோக்கியமான ஒன்றாக இருப்பதாக இயற்கை மற்றும் வண்ணத்துப்பூச்சி சங்கம் (TNBS) கருதுகிறது.

Butterfly migration in 2024

❖ Tamil Nadu witnessed reasonably good migration of butterflies from the Western Ghats hill ranges to the plains and the Eastern Ghats in April and May this year. ❖ It was followed by good pre-monsoon rainfall across the State in the summer.  ❖ As per the observations made by TNBS since 2013, no butterfly migration was reported in 2016 when Tamil Nadu witnessed a drought-like situation. ❖ Though the migration improved in 2017 and 2018, there was a decline in 2019. ❖ The Nature and Butterfly Society (TNBS) considers this year’s migration ahead of Southwest Monsoon a healthier one compared to the ones in the past few years.

டோக்கியோ அட்டகாமா ஆய்வகம்

கடல் மட்டத்திலிருந்து 5,640 மீட்டர் (18,500 அடி) உயரத்தில் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள உலகின் மிக உயரமான வானியல் ஆய்வுக் கூடம் தற்போது சிலியின் அடகாமா பாலைவனத்தில் திறக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அட்டகாமா பாலைவனத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு மலையின் உச்சியில் அமைக்கப்பட்டு வந்த, டோக்கியோ அட்டகாமா ஆய்வகம் (TAO) ஆனது தற்போது முழுவதுமாக கட்டமைக்கப் பட்டு முழுமையாகச் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது. TAO ஆய்வகத்தின் தொலைநோக்கி 6.5 மீட்டர் நீளம் கொண்டது மற்றும் அகச்சிவப்பு அலை நீளத்தில் பேரண்டத்தினைக் கண்காணிப்பதற்காக என்று வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட இரண்டு ஆய்வுக் கருவிகளைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. இந்தக் கருவிகளில் ஒன்றான SWIMS என்பது, ஆரம்பகாலப் பேரண்டத்தில் இருந்த அண்டங்களைப் படம் பிடிக்கும். MIMIZUKU எனப் பெயரிடப்பட்ட இரண்டாவது கருவியானது, தூசிகள் நிறைந்த ஆரம்ப கால வட்டுகளை ஆய்வு செய்வதன் மூலம் முதன்மையான அறிவியல் இலக்கை அடைய உதவும்.

Tokyo Atacama Observatory

❖ The world’s highest astronomical observatory at 5,640 metres (18,500 feet) above sea level is now open in the Atacama Desert, Chile. ❖ The University of Tokyo Atacama Observatory (TAO) is now built and fully operational, sitting on the summit of a mountain in the Atacama Desert. ❖ The TAO’s telescope is 6.5 metres in length and consists of two science instruments designed to observe the universe in infrared. ❖ One of the instruments, SWIMS, will image galaxies from the very early universe.  ❖ The second, named MIMIZUKU, will aid the overarching science goal by studying primordial disks of dust.
