World's largest grain storage plan 2024

❖ Under the pilot phase of the ambitious World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the cooperative sector, godowns have been successfully constructed at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in 11 states across India. ❖ These include Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Telangana, Tripura, and Rajasthan. ❖ It has achieved a total storage capacity of 9,750 metric tonnes. ❖ Now the government has extended the project over 500 additional PACS across the country.

Digital Agriculture Mission 2024 Milestone

❖ Gujarat has become the first state in India to achieve a significant milestone under the Digital Agriculture Mission. ❖ It generated 'Farmer IDs' for 25 per cent of the targeted farmers in the state. ❖ The Farmer ID, dynamically linked to the state’s land records system and based on Aadhaar, ensures seamless updates with changes in land ownership details. ❖ Madhya Pradesh has generated Farmer IDs for 9 per cent of its farmers registered under PM KISAN, followed by Maharashtra at 2 per cent. ❖ The other states, which includes Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Rajasthan, have also begun implementing this system.

❖ The state government has tabled a bill in the Assembly to amend the Tamil Nadu Local Authorities Entertainments Tax Act, 2017. ❖ The proposed amendment aims to empower the local bodies to levy a 10% entertainment tax on event where an admission fee is charged. ❖ It includes concerts, dramas, and other events conducted by any institution, including educational institutions, ❖ At present, there is no enabling provision for the levy and collection of the entertainment tax in such cases.

❖ The International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) have jointly launched the International Advisory Body for Submarine Cable Resilience. ❖ This body aims to address the challenges posed by ageing infrastructure, growing environmental threats, and increasing global traffic. ❖ The 40-member advisory body includes ministers, regulatory heads, and telecom experts from across the globe. ❖ India hosts around 17 international subsea cables across 14 distinct landing stations located in Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Tuticorin, and Trivandrum.

இந்தியா மற்றும் ஆசிய மேம்பாட்டு வங்கி (ADB) ஆகியவை இணைந்து 98 மில்லியன் டாலர் மதிப்பிலான கடன் ஒப்பந்தத்தில் கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ளன. இது தோட்டக்கலைப் பயிர் விவசாயிகளுக்குச் சான்றளிக்கப்பட்ட நோய் இல்லாத நடவு (தாவரங்களை) பொருட்களை அணுகுவதற்கான வாய்ப்பினை மேம்படுத்தச் செய்வதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது. இந்தத் திட்டம் ஆனது தாவரங்களின் ஆரோக்கிய மேலாண்மையை மேம்படுத்தும் இந்திய அரசாங்கத்தின் ஆத்மநிர்பர் நோயிலா தாவரத் திட்டத்திற்கு (CPP) நிதி ஆதரவு என்பதனை ளிக்கிறது. CPP என்பது ஒருங்கிணைந்த தோட்டக்கலை மேம்பாட்டுத் (MIDH) திட்டத்தின் ஒரு பகுதி ஆகும். ADB வங்கியின் 50% நிதியுதவியுடன் 2024 முதல் 2030 ஆம் ஆண்டு வரை இந்தத் திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்படும். வேளாண் நிலத்தில் மொத்தம் 18% பகுதிகளில் தோட்டக்கலைப் பயிர்கள் பயிரிடப் படுகிறது என்பதோடு அது வேளாண் மொத்த உள்நாட்டு உற்பத்தியின் மீது மொத்த மதிப்பில் 33% பங்கினைக் கொண்டுள்ளது.

Atma Nirbhar Clean Plant Program

❖ India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a $98 million loan deal. ❖ It aims to improve the horticulture crop farmers’ access to certified disease-free planting materials. ❖ The project supports the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Clean Plant Programme (CPP) that enhances plant health management. ❖ CPP is part of the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). ❖ It will be implemented from 2024 to 2030 with 50% financial assistance from ADB. ❖ Horticulture occupies 18% of agricultural land and accounts for 33% of the gross value of agricultural GDP.
