ஜப்பானிய அமைப்பான நிஹோன் ஹிடான்கிவிற்கு அணு ஆயுதங்கள் இல்லாத உலகத்தை அடைவதற்கான பெரு முயற்சிகளுக்காக வேண்டி 2024 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான அமைதிக்கான நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த அமைப்பு ஹிரோஷிமா மற்றும் நாகசாகியில் அணுகுண்டு வீச்சுகளில் இருந்து தப்பியவர்களைப் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்துகிறது. 1956 ஆம் ஆண்டில் உருவாக்கப்பட்ட நிஹான் ஹிடாங்கியோ ஜப்பானில் அணு குண்டுகளில் இருந்து தப்பியவர்களின் மிகப்பெரிய மற்றும் மிகவும் செல்வாக்கு மிக்க அமைப்பாகும். கடந்த ஆண்டு, 2023 ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான அமைதிக்கான நோபல் பரிசு ஆனது, தற்போது சிறையில் இருக்கும் ஈரானிய ஆர்வலர் நர்கீஸ் முகமதிக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது.

2024 Nobel Peace Prize

❖ Japanese organisation Nihon Hidankyo has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2024 for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons. ❖ It was representing survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. ❖ Formed in 1956, Nihon Hidankyo is the largest and most influential organisation of atomic bomb survivors in Japan. ❖ Last year, the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi, who is currently imprisoned.

ரஃபேல் நடால் ஓய்வு

ஸ்பெயின் நாட்டினைச் சேர்ந்த டென்னிஸ் வீரர் ரஃபேல் நடால் தொழில்முறை டென்னிஸ் போட்டிகளில் இருந்து ஓய்வு பெறுவதாக அறிவித்துள்ளார். ரஃபேல் நடால் 22 கிராண்ட்ஸ்லாம் ஒற்றையர் பட்டத்தையும், 14 பிரெஞ்ச் ஓபன் பட்டங்களையும் வென்று சாதனை படைத்துள்ளார். 2005 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் 2024 ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் மாதம் வரை 17 ஆண்டுகளாக ATP-இன் முதல் 10 இடங்களில் ஐந்து முறை ஆண்டு இறுதியில் உலகின் முன்னணி இடத்தில் இருந்தவர் என்ற பெருமையினைக் கொண்டுள்ளார். டென்னிஸ் போட்டிகளில் அவரது அதிகபட்ச சாதனை ஆண்டுகளில், அவர் 209 வாரங்கள் உலகின் தலைசிறந்த வீரராகத் திகழ்ந்தார். அவர் 2004 முதல் 2022 ஆம் ஆண்டு வரையில் ஒவ்வோர் ஆண்டும் குறைந்தது ஒரு பட்டத்தையாவது வென்றுள்ளார்.

❖ Spain’s tennis player Rafael Nadal has announced his retirement from the professional tennis. ❖ Nadal has won 22-grand slam singles title and a record 14 French Open titles. ❖ A five-time year-end world number one, he remained in the ATP top 10 for an incredible 17 years, from 2005 until March 2024. ❖ During his peak years, he spent 209 weeks ranked as the world’s top player. ❖ He won at least one title every year from 2004 to 2022.

National Maritime Heritage Complex Development

❖ The Union Cabinet approved the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal in Gujarat. ❖ The Cabinet has also accorded in-principal approval for Phases 1B and 2 of the projects. ❖ Phase 1A will have the NMHC museum with six galleries, including an Indian Navy and Coast Guard gallery envisaged to be one of the largest in the country. ❖ Phase 1B will see NMHC museum getting eight more galleries, and the Light House Museum which is planned to be world’s tallest.

❖ The alliance of the National Conference (NC) and Congress has won the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. ❖ This is the first assembly elections since 2014, first as a Union Territory and first after the removal of Article 370. ❖ In Haryana, the BJP has created history by retaining the state for the record consecutive third term. ❖ The BJP has won 48 seats while the Congress has secured 37. ❖ In J&K's 90 seats, the NC and Congress have won in 49, the BJP in 29 and the PDP in three.
