42 elephant corridors in Tamilnadu

❖ A committee was constituted by the Tamil Nadu government to identify elephant corridors in the State. ❖ It has brought out a list of 42 elephant corridors and has invited comments from the public. ❖ This number is much higher than the number of corridors listed by the Project Elephant division of the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change in 2023. ❖ The MoEFCC division had identified 20 corridors: 15 located within the State and five inter-state corridors connecting with forests of Karnataka and Kerala.  ❖ The synchronised census in 2023 indicated an estimated population of 2,961 elephants in the State. ❖ Elephants are distributed across 20 of the 26 forest divisions in Tamil Nadu, covering 9217.13 sq.km

Personalized mRNA vaccine for melanoma

❖ Doctors have started the trials on hundreds of patients for the world's first personalised mRNA cancer vaccine for melanoma.  ❖ Melanoma, the leading cause of skin cancer deaths globally, affects approximately 132,000 people annually. ❖ The vaccine, called mRNA-4157 (V940), is a personalised treatment that activates the immune system to fight a patient's specific cancer. ❖ It targets tumour neoantigens, which are unique markers found on tumours and can be recognised by the immune system

மருத்துவர்கள், கரும்புற்றுநோய்க்கான உலகின் முதல் தனிப்பயனாக்கப்பட்ட mRNA புற்றுநோய் தடுப்பூசியினை நூற்றுக்கணக்கான நோயாளிகளிடம் செலுத்திச் சோதனைகளைத் தொடங்கியுள்ளனர். உலகளவில் பதிவாகும் தோல் புற்றுநோய் சார்ந்த உயிரிழப்புகளுக்கு முக்கிய காரணமாக உள்ள கரும்புற்றுநோய், ஆண்டுதோறும் சுமார் 132,000 பேரைப் பாதிக்கிறது. mRNA-4157 (V940) எனப்படும் இந்தத் தடுப்பூசி, நோயாளியின் உடலில் உள்ள குறிப்பிட்ட புற்றுநோயை எதிர்த்துப் போராடுவதற்காக என்று நோயெதிர்ப்பு மண்டலத்தை நன்கு தூண்டுவிக்கும் ஒரு தனிப்பயனாக்கப்பட்ட சிகிச்சையாகும்.  இது கட்டிகளில் காணப்படும் தனித்துவமான குறிப்பான்கள் மற்றும் நோயெதிர்ப்பு மண்டலத்தால் அடையாளம் காணப்படக் கூடிய பல்வேறு நியோ ஆன்டிஜென்களை குறி வைக்கிறது.

இரத்தினம் மற்றும் நகைத் துறைக்கு அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்ட பொருளாதாரச் சேவை வழங்குநர் (AEO) அந்தஸ்தை மத்திய அரசு விரிவுபடுத்தியுள்ளது. இரத்தினம் மற்றும் நகைத் துறை ஏற்றுமதி மேம்பாட்டுச் சபை (GJEPC) என்பது இந்தத் துறையின் உயர் நிலை அமைப்பாகும். AEO என்பது உலகளாவிய வர்த்தகத்தைப் பாதுகாக்கப்பதற்கும் எளிதாக்கச் செய்வதற்குமான உலக சுங்க அமைப்பின் (WCO) SAFE தரநிலைக் கட்டமைப்பின் கீழ் ஒரு திட்டமாகும். சர்வதேச விநியோகச் சங்கிலிப் பாதுகாப்பை மேம்படுத்துவதும், சட்டப்பூர்வமான பொருட்களின் வர்த்தகத்தினை எளிதாக்குவதும் இதன் நோக்கமாகும்.

Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status

The Centre has extended Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status to the gem and jewellery sector.  ❖ The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is the apex body of the sector. ❖ The AEO is a programme under the World Customs Organisation (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards to secure and facilitate global trade. ❖ The aim is to enhance international supply chain security and facilitate movement of legitimate goods.

Illegal solid waste movement from Kerala

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has devised an action plan for the prevention of illegal interstate movement of solid waste from Kerala to Tamil Nadu. ❖ Following a directive from the southern bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which is hearing a suo motu case against the illegal dumping of waste from Kerala near Anamalai. ❖ The CPCB found the mismanagement of biomedical wastes generated from the households in violation against the Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016. ❖ The Kerala SPCB has been asked to ensure that all local bodies prepare a detailed inventory of the waste management system in their jurisdiction. ❖ To strengthen the capacity of solid waste management, the CPCB has directed Kerala’s Suchitwa Mission to identify the gaps in solid waste management specifically with respect to non-recyclable wastes.
