❖ ISRO successfully conducted hot testing of liquid rocket engine manufactured through 3D printing technology. ❖ The engine used is the PS4 engine of PSLV upper stage. ❖ The same engine is also used in the Reaction Control System (RCS) of the first stage (PS1) of PSLV. ❖ The engine uses the earth-storable bipropellant combinations of Nitrogen Tetroxide as oxidizer and Mono Methyl Hydrazine as fuel.
❖ India has now reversed an old trend to become a net exporter of medical consumables and disposables, a first for the country. ❖ Till now, the foreign products dominated the country's market for medical consumables, which include needles and catheters, among other things. ❖ During the fiscal year 2022-23, the country exported consumables and disposables valued at $1.6 billion. ❖ It is surpassing imports which amounted to approximately $1.1 billion. ❖ Exports witnessed a 16% increase over the previous fiscal year, whereas imports saw a 33% decline.

❖ The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) has recently published working paper on the share of religious minorities in 167 countries, including India. ❖ The paper strikingly claimed that for India, while the share in population of Muslims increased by 43.15% in this time period, the share in population of Hindus decreased by 7.82%. ❖ In 1950, Hindus’ share in population was 84.68%, coming down to 78.06% in 2015. ❖ Similarly, Muslims’ share in population had risen from 9.84% to 14.09%. ❖ The paper has concluded that Hindus’ share declined by 7.82%, Christians’ rose by 5.38%, Sikhs went up by 6.58%, and that of Parsis went down by 85%. ❖ The 2011 Census had counted 96.63 crore Hindus — 79.8% of the population and 17.22 crore Muslims — 14.2% of the population in the country at the time.

❖ The ICMR released a revised Dietary Guidelines for Indians. ❖ It mentions the guidelines required to meet essential nutrients and prevent noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). ❖ According to guidelines, sugar should be less than 5 per cent of total energy intake. ❖ A balanced diet should provide not more than 45 per cent calories from cereals and millet. ❖ Adding more, it said sugar should be 15 per cent of calories from pulses, beans and meat. ❖ The rest of the calories should come from nuts, vegetables, fruits, and milk. ❖ While total fat intake should be less than or equal to 30 per cent energy. ❖ It has also advised against the consumption of protein supplements to build body mass. ❖ Around 56.4 per cent of the total disease burden in India is due to unhealthy diets.
