❖ Pakistan’s top leadership has approved the launch of a new military operation aimed at quelling a surge in violence.

❖ It is called Azm-e-Istehkam, meaning Resolve for Stability in Urdu.

❖ It aims to address domestic security threats and the activities of armed fighters crossing over from Afghanistan.

❖ Since 2001, Pakistan's military has conducted many operations like "Zarb-eAzb", "Rah-e-Nijat", "Rah-e-Rast" against homegrown militants in border areas.
