❖ Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud has recommended the Justice Sanjiv Khanna to the government for appointment as the 51st Chief Justice of India.

❖ Current CJI is scheduled to retire on November 10.

❖ Justice Khanna did not serve as the chief justice of any high court before his appointment as a judge in the Supreme Court in January 2019.

❖ He is due to retire on May 13, 2025
