❖ The taxonomy defines green steel standards to support the country’s net-zero goals by 2070.

❖ The taxonomy introduces a star-rating system to classify green steel based on emission intensity.

❖ Five-star green steel is requiring emissions below 1.6 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of finished steel (tCO2/tfs).

❖ Steel with emissions below 2.2 tCO2/tfs will qualify for green certification.
