❖ The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) together won 293 seats, which is a comfortable majority.

❖ Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in for a third consecutive term at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

 ❖ Top leaders from India's neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region – Maldives President, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lankan President, Mauritius PM, Bhutanese PM and Vice-President of Seychelles were special guests at the function.

❖ The Cabinet increased to 71 members – PM, 30 Cabinet Ministers, 5 Ministers of State (Independent Charge), and 36 Ministers of State.

❖ 13 Ministers from South India in the new Cabinet, 5 from Karnataka Alone.

❖ Two Union Ministers from the northeast were retained in the cabinet.

❖ Seven women inducted into new 18th Lok Sabha cabinet.

❖ Previous council that was dissolved on June 5 had ten women ministers.

❖ TDP MP Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani with an asset of ₹5700 crore has become the richest minister to join the council of ministers.

❖ Of the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha, 262 have previously served as MPs, including 216 who were re-elected from last time.

❖ The average age of MPs in the new Lok Sabha is 56 years, down from 59 years in the 17th Lok Sabha.

❖ Down from 78 women MPs in the previous Lok Sabha, there are now 74 women accounting for 14% of the total members.

❖ In terms of profession, 48% of the new MPs declared their occupation in their affidavits as social work, followed by 37% in agriculture
