ஜல் சக்தி அமைச்சகத்தின் தேசிய நதி வளங்காப்பு இயக்குநரகம் (NRCD) ஆனது, 'நடந்தாய் வாழி காவிரி திட்டத்தின்' முதல் கட்டத்திற்கு 934.3 கோடி ரூபாய் நிதி ஒதுக்க ஒப்புதல் அளித்துள்ளது. காவிரி ஆற்றின் வளங்காப்பு மற்றும் மறுசீரமைப்பு செய்வதற்காக தமிழக அரசானது இத்திட்டத்தினை முன்மொழிந்துள்ளது. மத்திய மற்றும் மாநில அரசுகள் ஆனது இதற்கான திட்டச் செலவினங்களை முறையே 560.58 கோடி மற்றும் 373.72 கோடி ரூபாய் என்ற 60:40 விகித அடிப்படையில் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளும். முதற்கட்டத்தில் மேட்டூர் அணையின் தாழ்மட்டத்தில் இருந்து திருச்சி வரையிலான நதி பாய்வின் வளங்காப்பு பணிகள் உள்ளடக்கும். இரண்டாம் கட்டத்தில், திருச்சியிலிருந்து பூம்புகார் (நதியானது கடலுடன் சங்கமிக்கும் இடம்) வரையிலான ஆற்றின் எஞ்சியப் பாய்வு பகுதியின் வளங்காப்புப் பணிகள் மேற் கொள்ளப் படும்.
மாற்றுத்திறனாளி மாணவர்கள் தங்களது ஆராய்ச்சிகளை மேற்கொள்வதற்காக தமிழக அரசானது முதலமைச்சரின் புத்தாய்வு மாணவர் திட்டத்தினை அறிமுகப் படுத்த உள்ளது. மாற்றுத் திறனாளிகள் மற்றும் Ph.D (முனைவர் படிப்பு) படிக்கும் மொத்தம் 50 ஆராய்ச்சி மாணவர்களுக்கு இந்த புத்தாய்வு மாணவர் திட்டத்தின் கீழ் நிதியுதவி வழங்கப்படும். இந்த 50 மாணவர்களுக்கு தலா 1 லட்சம் ரூபாய் வழங்கப்படும். * தமிழ்நாடு அரசுப் பணியாளர் தேர்வாணையம் மற்றும் பிற ஆட்சேர்ப்பு நிறுவனங்களால் நடத்தப்படும் பல்வேறு போட்டித் தேர்வுகளில் வெற்றிபெற மாற்றுத் திறனாளி மாணவர்களுக்கு அரசானது பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளையும் வழங்க உள்ளது. சென்னையில் தங்குமிட வசதியுடன் சேர்த்து மொத்தம் 200 பயனாளிகளுக்கு சிறப்பு வகுப்புகள் வழங்கப்படும். இதுவரை இளம் சாதனையாளர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டு வந்த மாநில அளவிலான விருது ஆனது இனி மறைந்த ஹெலன் கெல்லரின் பெயரால் அழைக்கப்பட உள்ளது.
